Life

Yesterday, we received sad news...Isa's physical education teacher died.

She was on her way to the mountains for a day of skiing with her family. Her husband lost control of their SUV when they hit a patch of ice.

Life changes in an instant. She lost her life but her children (17 and 14 years old) + her husband survived. They are currently home now.

I've never had to deliver this kind of news to all my kids before. They are at an age where they can understand lost. Isa said she was her favorite teacher. She taught grades 4-8th. Nana and Dev didn't have her but knew her and were saddened. She had such passion for physical education that certainly touched Isa. It was a good day if she had PE.

We all have that teacher that inspired us...and for Isa it was her PE teacher.

My heart aches for her family, the school staff and all those who love her. But, I told our children...I know she would want us to celebrate her life. Her passions. And be the best students they can be.

Our kids seem to be handling it all well. But, I worry come Tuesday morning with all the emotions running through the school how they will handle it all.

Their school community is very connected and I know it will be the most supportive environment for our children.

It reminded us that life is precious. To hug each other more, to be grateful for each other and how being with each other matters most in our world...

Such sad news. I'm so sorry for their family and what these kids are about to learn about grief.

I agree. It was a big reality check at our house, as well.

This was a tough one, but I'm glad our school is like a family and we can all get through it together.
