It's all about Mini Getaways

Hiya! We have been busy. Busy but relaxing. Daddy's working at my parent's house (more to come on that) and we've been spending some time out there with him. It's nice to hang at his place of work. It just means more Daddy Time - which as you know we can't get enough of around here!

Daddy took a week vacation last week. He hasn't taken a week off since Madi was born in 2007. So, this was very special. We hung out at home for part of the week. We were invited by a soccer family to come to their cabin. We had originally planned to go on Friday but since Daddy had taken the week off - we left Thursday AM to head to Taholah, WA - shellfish district of our state. Their sweet cabin was a blast. We ALL had an amazing time with them.

We have just gotten to know the family and when Daddy was approached at a practice he was excited and apprehensive - because we hadn't spent a lot of time. But we really had our own place to relax and we meshed very well together. Love when it works out like that! Daddy was anticipating the getaway because it meant clamming and BOATING. I was thinking it meant reading and relaxing but I ended up playing with the kids the entire time. Since him and his brother sold their boat he keeps saying now that we have kids how he wishes he would've kept it. Our kids are water lovers and love water sports - I think mainly because Daddy is! I should say all of the kids minus Dev. He is a bit more cautious about all things and hasn't had his 2nd round of swim lessons yet - we tried but next summer is his year, he promises.

Anyway, thank you so much for inviting us out! We had a blast!

We took the Kingston Ferry over and drove to Taholah, WA. What's a G6 getaway without a ferry ride? Remember our adventure last year? We can't NOT ride a ferry once a year now. The kids of course, enjoyed the ferry ride and OMG, the clams were delicious. 5 out of the 9 there ate clams and BOY did we grub! They were amazing. I had to ask how she did because I couldn't believe the flavor!

Our two big girls loved inner tubing - I couldn't tell if Nana was having fun but she kept putting thumbs up while the salt water was splashing in her face! Isa was so a little dare devil - she wanted to so badly to go out of the wake. Her friend was not a fan of going out of the wake - as am I - so when Daddy tubed with her they whipped around and she got to go out of the wake. She loved it! She surprised me - but this is the same kid who loves rollercoaster rides so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised!

We came home Saturday (early) to make it to Dev's buddy's, Tyler's birthday party at 3-2-1 Bounce in Bellevue. And, to ensure we didn't miss the disappointing World Cup - Daddy was rooting for Oranje from the beginning so it was very sad for him! They were SO close! We were so grateful for the getaway! Thank you so much!

Soooo....How did she do it? Looks like a fun time. Nothing more relaxing than beaches. Even Washington beaches.

I loved intertubing and wake boarding when I was a kid! What a great experience for the kids!
