Happy Birthday, Grandma Kim!

We planned a birthday brunch for Husband's Momma this weekend (on her actual birthday!) along with the strings of birthdays we celebrated this weekend, my niece - Kaydalin's, our sweet friend - Kaylin from the C6, my friend - Camie's with FROST doughnuts and lastly Grandma Kim's birthday.

We had her oldest friend, Sue - meaning oldest in friendship years here, folks - over because she lives literally 4 blocks away. How could we not? Husband's brother and family were supposed to come but couldn't...but we ate and we were merry anyway.

I made:

Bacon and Toast Cups
Tortellini Salad (which is easy as can be - tortellini, sausage and any veggies you want toss with italian dressing and refridgerate).
Honey Whole Wheat Pound Cake with warmed raspberries and blueberries with whipped cream
Browned Butter Blueberry Muffins - I make these a lot but I used whole wheat flour instead of regular unbleached flour and my kids still gobbled them up while complaining that they don't want me to use whole wheat again.
Belgium Waffles - this recipe gets a double YUM. Try it.

I was going to make hot fudge sundae cupcakes for Isa's birthday with this pound cake recipe and it was a flop so I HAD to restore my faith in my ability to pull this one off so I re-made it successfully for Kim's birthday.

The kids, Grandma Kim (holding Madi) and her dear old friend, Sue. They had a great time visiting - thanks, Sue for coming over!

What's a birthday without a candle?

Grandpa Wade put Isa on our ledge above the door with a huge window (she's holding a lightsaber she made out of a noodle at Kaylin's birthday party)...she is so proud to be up there. I just made Husband dust up there so I didn't make her do it but...the next time she finds the urge to beg some one to throw her up there I will make her dust!

What a weekend...today was "stay-in-my-jammies-all-day" day (well sorta, I did have to leave for a bit). Happy Birthday, to all our February friends!
