Whew!

Oh, where or where have I been? Hmmm, lets see...

Last week was the kick off to school...along with some other little projects I'm working on -

  • Isa's school play's Silent Auction - I'm chairing this event that is a great fundraiser for the drama department as well as the school.
  • Start of Chess Club - I managed it at the girls' old school and will now be bringing it live to their new school (very exciting!)!
  • Husband's outdoor league started
  • Dev's Gymnastics class started
  • Deep cleaning...you know there were a couple days of glimmering sun - well inspiration struck and now...a run to Goodwill.
  • Isa's MLK project at school

Hmm, that list looks small...but I swear it was busier than that list looks. :)

Isa's class is hard core...they have many projects and this semester they're not holding back. Isa has her Olympics - which is read 4 books of choice complete with typed out (plus drafts) book reports, bibliography and pictures...this semester she needs to read a historical fiction book. She chose Oliver Twist as her school play is Oliver! Well, not exactly historic fiction according to her teacher but it will do. Whew!

Isa is also preparing for her first orchestra concert in February! She is doing amazing in orchestra. She loves playing the violin and has successfully passed her 1st year's goal!

Isa is unable to do Chess Club due to her crazy play schedule BUT Nana is very enthusiastically joining Chess Club. Since it's a new club offered at their school - lots will be beginners, perfect place for her to start.

Soccer...oh boy - yesterday was a kicker. Literally. Husband's team lost 6-3. OUCH. We were up - we were down...C6's Daddy, Dao was playing goalie. Not his normal position at all. He is usually defender or forward - he played because their goalie hurt his foot. Anyway, Dao was accidentally kicked in the temple of his head. He got right back up and started playing...all seemed fine.

Until after the game - he had no recollection of the game - of the morning - of anything occurring that day or the last couple years. Not good. Denise rushed him to the hospital. He was there all night and returned home this afternoon - his memory is returning...thank goodness. But, what a scare! I am so thankful their family has their daddy home and that hopefully they can all recover from this scary experience.

It was an intense game - my emotions have never been so heightened that's for sure. My poor husband went up for a header and was knocked down by the goalie right in the eye! It was so sad to see their team drop like flies out there! Everyone getting hurt right to left - old injuries to fouls. I was ready to scoop them all up and say - "we're done - you guys can not play nice!" Lesson learned? To be as supportive as I can without taking my husband's wounds as personal attacks. I turn all Momma Bear - that's no good...he has a Momma. :)

Awww, thanks - Sarah! It feels hectic but when you write it all down - it looks little! What is going on with that? :) How are you feeling, Mama?

Yikes, I always get nervous with head injuries after the whole Natasha Richardson thing. You can never be too careful.

I was in chess club in 6th grade, but now I refuse to play with Bryan because he won't win until he has taken all my pieces! Drives me nuts...let me lose with dignity!
