1/2 Days and USO Dance!

Thursday was 1/2 day - I totally thought it was Friday, I even read Nikki's blog thinking - "where's Flashback Friday?" Anyway, Haley (C6's Oldest) and I started baking together this summer. Making cookies (and more cookies, trying different things in them) and she started making cookies on her own so I was figuring we should step up our baking challenges and work with dough. Oh, dough. The mess. The stickiness. The challenge of getting dough the perfect temp for rolling. Baking is all about timing - not that I have to tell you all that - if you've ever baked, you know all of the this.

Anyway, since it was a half day I thought it would be plenty of time to make cinnamon rolls with her. The school was having a USO dance at 6pm and they got out at 12:30pm...seems like lots of time, right?

Wrong. We were kinda scrambling and didn't even bake them. She took them home to bake (I think today!). Joy the Baker had an awesome recipe for cinnamon rolls. It's fairly easy (easier than PW's recipe for sure). But, there was lots of waiting and proofing...

Don't they look yummy! Haley, you'll have to tell me how they taste! :)

Off to the dance! My kids have never been to a dance like this, where they get all dolled up to dance their booties off! SO FUN! The local High School's Jazz band played all kinds of fun 40's music Jazz and our school's Jazz Band played. Can I almost mention that I was running late because I brought Husband a change of clothes to his work (not far from the school) and missed Haley's performance! I was so bummed!!! I was 10 minutes late and missed it!

Dev and Pay enjoying Snowcones from Uncle Dao (or rather, Uncle Dao/Daddy).

The High School Jazz band! They were so fun to listen to!

o Look at my sweeties go! They just got out there and did all kinds of fun dances! I love how they let loose without any shyness...okay, well Madi was a little clingy and only wanted Dao and Denise but after she warmed up she was a dancing machine!

Haley hugging Dev whether he wanted to or not!

My cousins, Luc and Livi. Their Grandma R. brought them and we had so much fun dancing all together!

Uncle Dao busted on the dance floor with Miss Madi and the rest of the girls. Of course, Madi monopolizes Uncle Dao's time and wouldn't let the other girls in!

Luc and Dev bustin' it!

Besties - Em and Nana.

Yay! Daddy came and busted some moves on the dance floor with Madi!

Besties! HA! They were posing for my blog, can you tell?

We had a blast with all of their friends' families on a Thursday Night! It was fun to see parents dancing with parents (as long as they stopped making out...that was kinda gross "get a room!") but seeing parents dance with their kids and each other was for sure a ton of fun! One of the many things I love about our school is the participation is contagious! The kids really got into and dressed to the 40's theme with their parents in USO gear. Very official and most definitely fun!

There was making out?! Yuck! Loving Dev in that little airplane tie. Adorable.

Those cinnamon rolls look yummy too! I have bad luck with things that require rising though. A least you're only a day off this week. I forgot to factor in this weekend to the year. Thought it was already the first weekend in February!

Thank you so much for taking time to bake and cook with Haley!
I messed up on the rolls and didn't have them get to room temperature before baking, so they took like an hour to bake.
By then they were too dark in some places, so the flavor was off. I feel so bad!
I'm so sorry that you missed Haley, but it was so nice of you guys to come out and support her!
We loved hanging with you guys at the dance! I was so lucky to get all those snuggles from Madi! =)
