Random Acts of Kindness

It always always always blows me away when some one is kind in a way that is unexpected. We all do our part to do what we think is right and be an example to our kids. Right? Right. But, when your kids get to see another person step up and show kindness to you...blows me away.

Dear Random People,
It's Monday and it's raining. I didn't want to get out of bed. Nor did I want to run in the store for milk. But, if I don't have milk for hot chocolate this afternoon when my girls, Isa and Nana get home - they'll be sad. So, for them I will venture in the rain for one gallon of 2% organic milk. Just for them. But, random person who looked at me while my two little ones were following me and said "can I buy you a latte?". You made me smile. Not only did you make me smile, I didn't turn you down. But, you also bought Vanilla Milk for my two little ones. You praised them for their cuteness and good behavior. You complimented me on raising such wonderful children. WOW. Thank you, Random Latte Person.

As I walk out the door, carrying my milk, latte and Madi and Dev holding tightly to my fingers - YOU, Random Umbrella Man came and walked me to my car. You were headed in the store and stopped to ask me if you could walk me to my van. How nice was that? We huddled together under your umbrella. Although, I am not a fan of huddling inside my personal space bubble - I did because you were so kind. I couldn't say "no" to you. You buckled my daughter and walked away as I yelled "thank YOU so much!" WOW. Thank you, Random Umbrella Man.
You both have made my Monday pleasant. Thank YOU.

Isa's team, the Tornadoes gave me these flowers. It was unexpected and very touching. Tornadoes, thank YOU for appreciating and acknowledging me as your Team Momma.

This next one is just random...Madi loves her some Cinderella. We have dress up shoes for every princess...but we don't have glass slippers. However, our Build A Bear does and Madi needed to wear them.

Madi, you have your whole life to wear super cute shoes that hurt your feet. Don't start now!

That is very very nice. Except my inner paranoid person keeps me from accepting help and lattes from strangers. Unless he was hot, was he hot? ;)

I don't think it's randomness at all! You are a sweet smiley lady with adorable kiddos! I bet it made him just as happy to buy your latte and milk for the kids.
And the umbrella person! Oh! It's so nice to know that there are good people out there!

Girl you make me nervous. It's always the unsuspecting ones. Think Ted Bundy? Not to make everyone as paranoid as me, but I would've taken the coffee and bid adieu.

@everyone: thanks!!

@denise: it was two separate people and the lady was SUPER sweet. we chatted while waited for coffee, she totally misses her kids being that age! i know i'd probably do the same!

@nikki: crazy! it was 2 different people one was a lady and was an older man...but both were super SWEET! usually i'm just as paranoid but i didn't get the crazy vibe (he wasn't creepy at all). or else i would've said "i love the RAIN!" which i do anyways but yesterday was particularly nasty! :D

Okay, I'm pregnant and hormonal (so I got a littlte emotional as I read it) but I loved this post. It's so nice to have these gentle reminders that there are GOOD people out there who care about the human race and understand that little things can make a huge difference in someone's day. Thank you for sharing your sweet story -- and for the reminder of how good it is to be both the recipient and the deliverer of happiness!
