Legos, Auditions and Service Projects

Every day at naptime, Dev and I spend some one on one. Three times a week he has to work on his Homeschool stuff but twice a week (his favorite days) he gets to play with a friend or play with Mommy. Monday, he played with Mommy. We decided to get down on some Legos and build a secret lair for the Storm Troopers.

Of course, Storm Troopers need a getaway car. DUH.

My head probably grew a ton while playing with him. Have you noticed? I was the coolest Mommy for building a Storm Trooper House and a getaway car. He raved about my mad skills to Daddy. I'm sure Daddy will be one upping me this weekend when he has his Lego time with Dev. :)

Auditions and Service Projects.

Yesterday, my biggest baby tried out for the very first time. My girls love to act out plays or sing at home. What girls don't, right? When the opportunity arose for her to audition, she was unsure and worried it'd be "too hard". The most wonderful thing about this school is everyone gets a part. Everyone. So, no matter how she auditioned she was guaranteed a spot in the play. It shows how they value each individual not just the shining stars. Love that! She is in choir at her school so she is sure to be part of the chorus for the play.

What I didn't know was that it was 3:50-6:15pm, I thought it was a in and out audition. Say your lines then go...nope, she had to be there the entire time. So, I grabbed the snack I packed for her and ran it inside. I was worried she'd be starving. Well, turns out she didn't get a chance to eat it until after 6:15pm. Daddy picked her up from her audition at 6:15pm so I could prep dinner and head there myself for our MIT (PTA) meeting.

Her audition packet with her "head shot". Call backs are Thursday and Friday this week. We will keep you updated on our Rising Star! Good luck, Isa! We are SO proud.

Speaking of MIT (M Intergrated Team = Parent Teacher Association for most other schools) - they are doing a school wide Service Project Denise and I learned about last night. I LOVE this school for so many reasons but the big draw was that the school works on building their students character. Letting them know, they have a place in their school as well as in their communities and they can make a difference.

In the next couple months, we will be receiving information about the Heifer International. Each student will be required to earn (key word here, they want each student to work for this money) $1 to be donated to Heifer International. There are roughly 700+ students at our school. That means that a family or families will receive livestock, seeds or training for a family struggling with hunger and poverty. Our school also thinks they've found a way to "track" their progress so the students can see the "results" of their hard work at work. Are you touched? Because I sure am. Nothing makes me more proud than seeing my kids give back. If you receive an email from the girls asking to work, please take them up on it!

PS did I mention that I volunteered Denise to be head of Facebook for our MIT? She is going to do fantastic! I think her title should be Denise C. Chair of the Inter-Web Social Communications. What do you think?

P.S. I can't wait to find out what Isa will be doing in the play.
P.P.S. I ♥ our school, too! This project is what it's all about.
