I've been on every search engine looking up Supernumerary Tooth (or teeth) trying to find a definition that suits what we went through but all of them are kind of off the wall weird stories of teeth. Shall I start from the beginning?
Nana had lost her top tooth first. Super unusual. Come to find out she has a Supernumerary Tooth between her upper centrals. They couldn't do anything until it erupted. Even after it did, we were still in denial because they had said they it may not ever effect her teeth. Well, when we saw this tiny tooth come down...we were like "is that a tooth?" "a corner of the tooth?" No, it was the the actual Supernumerary Tooth that erupted.
It had to go. It was right between the two centrals and they wouldn't come down unless we removed it. Okay, so there's me all freaked out that it would effect her centrals and she'd be toothless forever. Yeah, still kinda worried but I know that really it'll be okay because I only asked the dentist 7645654684 times and they said "it should be fine". Really? Yes, really. So, we went to one dentist and he was like go see an Oral Surgeon ($$$ is all I saw). I investigated alternatives specializing in Supernumerary Teeth (or who had at least worked on a few cases)and went to a Master Extractor, Dr. W. He told me 1 in 100 kids this happens to and it'd be fine.
I just met Dr. W yesterday for the first time. He did an initial exam and was like "wanna take out today?" Huh? I wasn't prepared and neither was Nana. She immediately started crying and saying she wanted to go home. I sat and talked to her about it. She was still upset. We called Daddy and Daddy talked to her. I knew that if we left it would be impossible to take her back. After she talked to Daddy, she was like "okay." Why does that make the difference? Same thing with her stitches. I could say the same thing as Daddy but coming from Daddy it means so much more. Still perplexed about that one. Whatever works though. She was in the chair. Dr. W started to numb her and when they were offered her Nitrous...forget it. She was screaming. So, they numbed her up really well and I held her hand (with Madi on my back and Dev playing cars in the chair beside me) and in 2 seconds it was out. I have no idea but it was the longest 2 seconds ever. She screamed when he would touch her mouth. I worried about this traumatizing her and she'd never see a dentist again. But, after she called Daddy and said "I was scared a little". A little? Is she kidding me? I was freaking out (inside) because she was freaking out. She never kicked or wrestled around just crying. Dr. W said that was normal and she did fine. Really? She is so happy it's out now and the tooth fairy rewarded her greatly.

Sorry the picture isn't the clearest but it's the tiniest tooth ever, right?
She was supposed to be on soft foods for the next 10 days and no physical activity for the next 24 hours. But, we made pizza last night for dinner. Hawaiian Pizza to be exact. And, she ate it. She said she never eats with her front teeth anyway because there's nothing there. Point taken.
