Cookie Making on a Snowy Day

I had a clear plan today. Very clear. Nana was at her friend, Zoe's house-they had a sleepover last night. Back to my plan, earlier this week I begged Husband to be home on Saturday morning so I can take the Isa and Kendie to an Art Class. Husband promises and promise is kept. He is here with Madi...and Dev. As I go to leave, Dev starts the "Come with Mommy. Mommy come with you." And, oh yes-I'm weak folks-I gave in. Against my better gut feeling that he should hang out with Dad and run a muck before nap at home. I caved at 10:30am to let him come with the big girls and now I must pay. We head out to our Art Class this morning they had planned for us to make Christmas Crackers. Which at first I didn't quite get but it all was clear when I got there. Tissue Paper, goodies to go inside the works-guess how many children were there. Six children. Which is fine for us at 9am but 10:45am we're pushing the Dev-Man's patience. Lunch is needed at this point and a good nap at 12pm sharp. Yeah, we don't mess around because why? Because we pay.

This is Dev after I asked him to wait behind the girls for his turn at using curly ribbon.

The Art Class went smoothly until the coloring was over and it was time to wait in line for our turn with the curly ribbon. Oh, man. Waiting that 5 minutes it was completely clear to me that it was time for a graceful exit before it got super oogly. I mean ooogly! We finished our lovely Christmas Crackers and exited the store with grace. I was thrilled. Off to get Nana.

After picking Nana up from Zoe's house we decided it would be a terrific idea to make cookies. Specifically, Oatmeal Cranberry Drops, yummy-right?? I thought so. So, we stop at the store on the way home. And yes, I stop at the store with all the kids all the time. How would we eat otherwise? So, we go to the store. Dev's still in tact. No meltdown yet. In the car on the way home it begins. Lots of laughter in the backseat (where Isa, Kendie and Dev sit), I feel it coming..."Calm down guys, you're getting a little nuts back there." Still laughter it's louder and then screaming. Dev had ripped Kendie's Christmas Cracker to shreds. We were all of 1 minute from home. Time out before nap. I hate that. In for nap Dev goes with an apology to Kendie on the way. On the bright side it made for a milder baking cookie experience. I make lunch (late lunch) and prep the cookies. The kids finish and we start the cooking making.

We opted for Cherries instead of Cranberries at the store.

We also had to have White Chocolate swirled with Milk Chocolate. Yum.

I have no idea why this turned out so red looking. Pretend they have a tan.

And while we were baking we watched snow fall. Then, the girls left to play outside. They have yet to try our yummy cookies. I think Daddy is getting his fair share of cookies in while he can.

The cookies lay to rest in the cookie Tupperware where I'm sure right around dinner time Isa and Nana will ask if they can eat them. I'll have to disappoint them by saying "You played outside instead of eat cookies so you'll have to wait until after dinner. Man, even I think that's lame.

Trust me if this was bigger it would give you a headache because it's so blurry!

Have fun in the snow today!
