Sandy Sunday!

Summer's all about the sand in your hair. Oh no, that's wind in your hair. Well, how about sand thrown in your hair?

This is the first time this summer it's felt like true summer (at least when we've been in town) the last few weekends have been amazingly beautiful in the PNW! This is the last weekend before soccer starts and HOLY COW we knew we needed to enjoy it! We had plans to go to Jetty Island. Um, the day had other plans because the ferry wasn't going to be available until 2pm. And, we got there at 11am. 3 hours in a standing line for a ferry is not ideal with 4 kids.

So, Jetty Island was a big disappointment so we Googled for local beaches and we came across Howarth Beach. It was high tide...meaning that there was barely a beach. Our play area was also a walkway for passerbyers. BUT, we made do - we had our friends the C6 meeting us so it was gonna be a good ol' time!

When we first go there it was cold but it quickly warmed up...not the water though. The whole time the kids were wishing we went to Silver Lake instead. I was satisfied being at the beach relaxing and chatting.

Sand digging. Surfing.

I can't believe how far out they went in the freezing cold water. Nana and Em both dunked their heads. Brrrr. ::shivers:: Dev was so proud to spell his name in the sand. He loved playing in the sand.

The kids were trying to make their very own pool/hot tub because the water was so cold. They really wanted to SWIM. Not just play in the sand.

They tried swimming, don't get me wrong.

The Daddies really wanted to swim too. SO, at 1:30pm we packed up and headed to yet another beach. Silver Lake.

Silver Lake

Surfing on the boogie board with Daddy.

Sand castles. Water toys. All fun things I felt like were lacking in our dreary weathered summer. The kids had an incredible time with the Daddies playing and swimming. I wasn't fond of the idea of going to yet another beach but glad we did they had the best time!

**Mystery Boy standing in the picture on the right. We attract kids. I swear every where we go they gravitate towards us asking to play. In this case, he wanted to help Daddy and our kids build their sandcastle. But like I said, we always seem to gather children around us. Once in Orcas Island, Dao was fishing with our kids and we had a line of kids saying they wanted fishing lessons??! I'm telling you it's so funny!

Dao started pulling Madi on a boogie board then Daddy joined in and pulled Dev. Before you knew it we had a line of kids wanting to be pulled. We left the beach at the ripe hour of 5:00pm to have dinner the C6's house. I really felt like this is what summer is all about. Beaching and BBQing!
