Summer Ramblings...

Um...usually I don't post ramblings.

Who am I kidding? I constantly ramble...the problem is my kids are too tired to listen to Mommy ramble about what I'd like to accomplish this summer.

Oh, what's that? You say that summer is about not accomplishing. Oh, it's the exact opposite? Sooooo wrong, my friend.

I am a workbook time = fun time at this house. Harsh. They'll thank me later.

My proposal. I am looking for cool interesting YET educational fun things to do.

  • hiking...not a massive hike. I'm not a massive hike person. Do-able hikes for a soon to be 4 year old. Suggestions? Preferably, somewhere we can also have a picnic lunch.

  • bird watching. I realize how crazy boring that sounds but our backyard has tons of "unknown" birds that flutter around and hang out in the jungle of a yard I have right now.

  • read. Summer reading with a plan. I want to chart their books. I want them to challenge and get in as much recreational reading as they can. Their school work will keep them reading structurally. It's a challenge for them especially for Nana who will be entering Intermediate and won't have creative freedom to choose her own books.

  • swim. swim lessons are at the top of my ambitious list even though they are listed as #4 here. Dev is going to have to conquer his fear of being cold. Remember??

I have some fun camping trips but other than that it'll be a staycation! Woo hoo! Before we know it, it'll be time for soccer again. But before all of that, we gotta get through our marathon of end of year stuff.

Hi Sheree! For reading... do you do the Half Price Books summer reading thing? We did last year and the kids loved turning in their reading logs for a new book. Barnes & Noble has an incentive program too, but you have to pick your free book from a limited list. We're so ready for summer!

Dude your blog hasn't been showing up in my feed I think.

What about hiking Discovery Park with a picnic on the beach?

Sounds like the same kind of summer we will be having. (:
