Isa's friend, Isabelle introduced her as Barack Obama claiming that Isa's head was eaten off by an alien...yeah not sure how I feel about that introduction. Isa has a couple big reports a year. They call them Olympics. And, boy do they feel like it...I feel like I ran in the Olympics after supporting her with her reports. The teachers are hard core in the sense they prepare them for what is to come in Middle School and High School. You read different genres of books and have to give an annotated bibliography on each book. Each. Book.
She reads about 4 non fiction books in the school year and this year she had to do a research paper to support her non fiction annotated bibliography.
Then, do a monologue as her research paper. She originally wanted to do Amelia Earhart. BUT I couldn't find a costume (those pilot hat/helmet are hard to find - I searched every 2nd hand store in my area)...so I suggested (because the costume is part of their grade) if she could do Barack Obama. She did well on that report and I thought it would be a good transition.
How hard is it to get in front of people and give any kind of speech? Hard, right? Well, she then had to leave and come back as herself...to be critiqued by her peers. Yeah, I was more proud of how she handled feedback then the actual report. She stood there with confidence and poise. I was beaming. The proudest Momma ever. Love you, Belley!!

I remember doing that in 3rd grade! I was Annie Oakley. But I remember my friend who was Harriet Tubman best because she brought chocolate chip cookies ;)
Good for Isa, she's so comfortable in front of a crowd.
Nice job Isa! Especially after not knowing if you could do Obama or not until last minute! Wow!
