1st Day of School!

The day has come...summer is over. I do love fall. Like love love fall - fresh pencils, school library books and excited faces when they see their friends again. I miss them but I knew today would be okay because it was Dev's VIP day, what's a VIP?

Besides, Very Important Person - well, VIP takes the attendance to the office, brings snack for the class, is line leader and gets to do show 'n tell. Dev had a plan.

He wanted his favorite Apple Cinnamon Muffins and Apples for his snack. He wanted to bring his new Kung Zhu. And, wear his new Lego Star Wars shirt his Daddy gave him (that "glows up"). Daddy ate breakfast with all the kids. He couldn't take Dev to school - he was working at his Mom's house 40+ miles away so he had to leave promptly.

The girls were oober excited and barely ate. We hurried off to school. Oh, yes - the baby (well, not so baby I suppose) needed to bring her fancy Cinderella purse with her Zhu Zhu pet and sunglasses - essentials to her.

As soon as we got out of the car we saw the C4 - Bella and Jules - Bella and Isa ran off to their class while I walked Nana and Dev to theirs. I snapped some photos and then went hunting for my big girl. Uh...it took me 10 minutes to find her. I finally found her. Hugged her. Kissed her. Hugged her again. And, then begged for a picture. She happily obliged my request. Nana is a 3rd year meaning she is the oldest grade level in her class. She needs to be a role model and she takes it very seriously. I am so proud of all my babies. I miss them and love them.

It was my volunteer day in Dev's class coincidently. Madi is my only buddy home in the mornings so she got to hang with me. Ms. R made her feel special and comfortable. She hung out in the back of the class and played with her Zhu Zhu, Winky while I helped Ms. R. We are so happy that Pay is with us in Ms. R's class at the same table. It makes him at ease to know his good buddy is there with him. Dev's other buddies and cousin, Livi are in full time Kindergarten. He is so excited to see his friends from Co-Op and soccer + family all in his school.

Ms. R did the neatest thing - her theme for the day was the Gingerbreadman "run, run as fast as you can! You can't catch me I'm the Gingerbreadman!" She read them the story, then asked them to hunt for the Gingerbreadman. It was her way of giving the kids a tour of the school. They looked in the library, the office, music room and the gym. I thought it was so cute! Then, they came back to Gingerbreadmen on their tables to decorate and take home.

Then, it was VIP sharing time.

He loves to share and everyone loved Zhu Zhu - who doesn't love them? Nana, Dev and Madi are in love with Zhu Zhus right now. They spend all day playing with them in their little houses. He loved every minute of his VIP day.

I made it through...only a few tears and constant teary eyes. I just see my kids growing right before me. Husband and I love who they are becoming and love this parenting journey. We have the best conversations with all of them. We spend a lot of our time together talking about them - laughing about the things they do or say or venting about how NOT funny something they did or said was. It's the best!

We did our traditional icecream trip after the girls came home from school. Dev got a bonus ICEE (his favorite) right after his 1st day of Kindergarten was over.

Have I mentioned that I love all of them?? Because I do.

Great job Devin! Our boys are in school, we can't get together on fridays and gossip anymore. I still can't believe you have time to blog.
