4th of JULY

How was your 4th??

Ours was super! What's our life without soccer? Yeah, I dunno either.

Daddy had a tournament at a park - with a team that he'll be playing with in a couple weekends for in a tournament so...to mesh them together they've been practicing and one of the players threw this fun little tournament together for the 4th weekend.

I was surprised he got 6 teams to commit to playing on the 4th of July weekend but he did + a couple refs to make it official. It was easy and Daddy had a great time!

AND, they WON! Well, if Team Japan had been able to make it the 2nd day they probably would've won but they didn't have enough players the 2nd day so they were out.

On the 4th, Daddy played 2 games against the strongest teams left and they WON! Pretty exciting! They have such a team ethic - you can tell they care for their team mates and the game, it was a blast to watch!

The kids kept themselves busy at this park. It was a fun little park and clean. Isa's still reading Eclipse so she played and read - then played more. It rained the last 20 minutes of the game and during the awards ceremony so we hustled our booties home to get warmed up and cook our 4th of July dinner. Grandpa Eddie came to watch Daddy play in the championship game then headed up to our house to celebrate the 4th. WE were all so happy he could hang with us.

The kids wanted to bake Daddy a championship cake that we cut into stars with strawberries - mysteriously my blueberries were all gone! So, no blue in our dessert! We made Angus Burgers, leftover steak from the night before - [thanks, Uncle Denny and Aunty Kelli!], Baked Beans with Oregon Dan's BBQ Sauce + brown sugar, Cucumbers with soy sauce, vinegar and pepper, Garlic Fries and Watermelon.

We rested our bellies then lighted some sparklers. This being the first 4th in our house we weren't sure if we could see the city's fireworks but we could! So, we stood on our deck and watched them! We had a low key 4th - our city doesn't allow fireworks so our neighborhood was relatively quiet. It made for a relaxing evening! The kids were so excited to have Grandpa Eddie stay so late! After he left, the kids said "we wish Grandpa could spend the night!" - HA!

Dev didn't really want to participate so he played photographer! Madi on the other hand was fine with Grandpa holding her while she held the sparklers! Too funny!! The big girls, of course, we're loving it!
