Happy 5th Birthday! [part 2]

Man, it was an exciting day at the G6's House! Star Wars Birthday Galore! We invited some friends [when we say friends please remember that G6 + C6 is already 12] and family over to celebrate Dev's very special 5th Birthday.

Nikki got my mind rolling with a Star Wars themed birthday last year on Dev's 4th birthday and I hadn't anticipated the fun and clever thrifty ways to do this! So, thanks - Nikki!

::Drum Roll:: and cue the Star Wars themed music!

The preparation part is always time consuming but really, the cost was minimal [really]. I mentioned in my previous post [below] that I got spools for 10 cents at Creation Station and [swimming] noodles from the Dollar Tree. I printed and labeled all the food and at the end all the kids gotta robe, certificate and their lightsaber. There is this awesome birthday $1.50 store that we got some neaty Star Wars stickers and the pin the tail on the galaxy stuff from - call me if you wanna know specifics.

SO, we had stations -
  • Jedi Intiation Robe
  • Jedi Tattoo [which we NEVER did - oops, I'll save the tats for the Storm Troopers spring soccer season]
  • Save the Galaxy [pin the bomb on the ship] - we kinda figured out that they could see through the bandana. They all had fun so that's all that matters, right?
  • [the most popular] Jedi Obstacle Course
We had typical Jedi Food -
  • Han-Burgers
  • Clone Fries
  • Jabba Jiggle with segment prisoners [cherry/orange organic jello - this I don't recommend use the artifical stuff and canned oranges]
  • Wookie Munch [monkey munch]
  • Ewok Yub Nub [Darth Vader Cake] made with love from Grandma Kim
Liam's Momma let me borrow her Star Wars Cookbook that had great names to get the mind rollin' - thanks, Tracey and Liam!

The Obstacle Course was a hit - Daddy and Dao made it super fun and all the kids had a blast. They had kids running through cones fighting off death star [ping pong balls] and saving Princess Leia. Husband came up with this all on his own and him Dao just made it happen. Pretty neato if you ask me!

Grandma Kim made the Darth Vader cake for Dev [amazing, isn't it?]. Dev loved it and it was special knowing it was made with love from Grandma Kim.

Being [almost] 5 Alive and feeling pretty cool!

Thanks to ALL of our family and friends who came to celebrate our baby boy's 5th birthday! We love you all!! I am whooped but not as whooped as I could be if the C6 hadn't totally came through [again!!] for us. Thanks to all of them for letting us bounce ideas with us, to big sis - Haley for helping me with the little projects like writing down presents to peeling carrots and taking pictures! Denise and Dao you guys are like double us and we most def needed that today! WE so appreciated ALL of you.

Tea time and bed time. Come back for Part 3 [possibly 4]. :)

**Nikki, I jacked your picture collage idea - brilliant on big posts!**

Dev will never forget his 5th bday, that's for sure (neither will any of the other kids)!

Oh! I love the pic collage! You'll have to show me how to do it (please)!
