Every year we do a Pumpkin Carving Party with the girls' school friends. But this year we decided it would be more fun to do it with our best pals, the C6. Then Husband could help (which never happens because I usually do it after school by myself). Plus,
Madi and Kay both had viral infections this past week that was causing their leg muscles to be sore so we opted to just keep it us. Little Tyler, Dev's buddy was going to come but I called Cam and told her that we were getting over this and like me she wants to be germ free. :)
Madi and Kay are much better - it really just makes them sick for a total of 3 days but it's sad to see them be so achy with a fever and sore muscles. We haven't had ::ahem:: (dare I say it?) the flu yet. Crossing our fingers for a mostly healthy season.
This is what has happened in years past...

Yes, that's me with like 6 pumpkins, crazy - right?
Anyway, after soccer was over the C6 came over at 4pm to start the pumpkin fun! Denise and I split the food duty. I did dessert - candy corn popcorn balls (that ended up to be a gooey mess) and an over sprinkled cake with orange cream punch. Denise brought pizza dough and pizza fixings to make pizzas with a yummy spinach artichoke dip that was gobbled up in seconds.

We basically did a goody bag exchange. Ours were filled with sweets and hers were filled with
chex mix so the kids got the best of both worlds, salty and sweet.

Isa helped decorate the table but it all had to be moved for...

The pumpkins. Our kids only wanted two big pumpkins and the rest little tiny ones but the C6's kids had 4 pumpkins. We were on a time line because the Daddies had plans that night so...they worked hard on getting them done.

The hardest one first, Haley (their oldest) wanted a Twilight Pumpkin with Bella and Edward. So, Daddy
Dao got all prepped and began to channel his artistry skills (he IS a great artist!).

Daddy worked on Isa's skull. She is so into skulls and the C6 happened to bring an extra print out so Daddy started pluggin' away.

Isa was so excited, she stayed by him almost the entire time.

The finished product.

Um, so the only two pumpkins that actually got done. Us, Mommies were supposed to work on dinner. I started rolling the pizza dough that I over-floured...then Dao stepped in and took over. My pizza work was not perfection and these daddies are so great they just step in and save the day. So after Dao finished rollin' the dough I put one in. Well, Denise thought she'd be a step ahead and garnished the next one...oops. We then had a dilema, how were going to get the pizza onto the pizza pan with all the veggies and meat on it AND the dough being so thin?

They're
thinking hard about what to do. In the end they rolled it up and then rolled it back out onto the pan and it turned out SUPER yummy and looked great too. That cut into their pumpkin carving time...before we knew it it was almost 7pm and they needed to roll out.

What's a party without balloons? These balloons kept them busy - drawing faces, balloon fighting and making up stories with their balloon characters.

These girls love our "playhouse". It was a shed that the previous family turned into an office (with heat, carpet and running water) that is now the kids' playhouse. They play school and just hang out in. Denise walked out there to take pictures because since we moved I still hadn't made it out there to take some. ;)

What's a party without Halloween make-up?

Our pumpkin at night. One down one to go...we have one game for Isa and one for Daddy so
maybe it'll get done. It is lazy Sunday after all. :)
