Happy 2nd Birthday to our little Diva!

Our littlest baby is a true Diva by Wikipedia definition, a woman (in this case baby girl) who displays dramatic talent. She is dramatic with every thing she does and we enjoy watching the drama most of the time. The girls in our families and our friends' families tend to flock to this Diva and be at her beckon call. She is lost with out our girls or our friends' girls catering to her.

This took little training, Diva - I believe - is something that comes naturally. Her birthday was unlike any other day for Diva. She loves to be sang to, to be sought after and most importantly to be cuddled with - the girl loves her some cuddle time. Mind you, these are all on her terms - sometimes she just isn't in the mood and then watch out and back up.

We love her in all her diva-ness and appreciate the joy she brings in all of our lives.

Now, onto her birthday...our cousin Kurtis came up from college in Linfield to visit and we were so happy when he came by to see us!! He brought his GF, Kristen (it was our first time meeting her) and they stayed in the midst of my son's food poisoning that day before we left for Kayak Point.

Husband hosted most of this visit as I was taking care of the sick guy but none the less we were happy he, Kristen, Kae and her BF, Tim hung out that evening.

Kristen and Kurtis - Kae deleted my pictures of her and her BF, Tim in fear I'd post them on my blog or Facebook. :) She knows me too well.

They brought over a gift from their family and G.G. Madi opened it up right away!

She didn't quite get why she was able to open a gift for her but she was eager to rip into the box.

Leggings, a skirt and shirt - she slipped the skirt on over her dress right away, thanks - guys! We ended up all going camping and that was a great start and end to Madi's birthday and Daddy's birthday.

When we got back Sunday, we unpacked/unloaded the car and then we wanted to have Grandpa Eddie over for dinner because the kids wanted to yack about their camping trip and have him spend some time with Diva since he works Monday and leaves a good 45 minutes away. Not realizing when we called him he was just up at his sister's house (20 minutes away from our house) that morning but he came back up anyway! Daddy made enchiladas, corn and for dessert we had strawberry shortcake (Madi's fave without strawberries). Madi slept through dinner and dessert. When we woke her up she wasn't interested in any of it...so I figured we could have strawberry shortcake 2 nights in a row, right? :)

On Monday, Madi's birthday we chilled. Mainly because Mommy was battling a sinus infection I didn't know I had. Madi head-butt me Thursday (on accident of course :D) and my nose was sore the whole camping trip. Then, the afternoon of Saturday my nose really started to run and get congested so by Monday morning I was figuring I was on my way to sinus-ville.

Dev's suggestion for Madi was to watch Mulan because her best friend, Mushu (the C6's doggie) was in there not the doggie but the character he's named after in the movie. They cuddled up in the playroom to watch Mulan together while the big girls played "Full House" upstairs. Yes, my kids are big "Full House" fans we have Season 3 on DVD.

I couldn't get Madi's eyes away from the movie.

When Daddy got home, I was running a temp and probably should've rested but I didn't want to miss out on her big day. You only turn 2 once! So, I popped 2 Tylenol in and went to the park with them. Daddy didn't even change from work - we just ate dinner and ran out the door. The park is technically walking distance from our house but there aren't any sidewalks down a busy hill so we opted to drive - which took no time at all. As soon as we got there she headed for the s-l-i-d-e. Her favorite thing to do is to swing on the bar above and slide down.

Daddy followed her all over the park. He wanted to make sure she knew she was extra special that day and she ate it up with no problem. She loves her some daddy time.

I tried to re-tape from the front but Madi don't play that she immediately jumped off to move on. Little stinker.

Going down slides with your daddy makes the ride so much better!

My mister with a full mouth of chicken ravoli - we had Madi's favorite but not Dev's and we wouldn't let him play until he finished eating his chicken ravoli.

Cuddles for Daddy.

Then it was like relay bootcamp for the kids - I am not a competitive person unlike my other half. Where he loves to do it for fun and push the kids' competitive edge which will (as he says) be great on the soccer field. Nothing wrong with that. I haven't seen tears but I always wait for them to pour out luckily, Husband beats everyone so it never really matters and they all beat me. Yes, I too did the course in like 1:45 - unlike my competitors who did it in a minute or less.

Isa went 2nd...I couldn't get Nana's video to upload.

Daddy went last all for extra scoops of icecream. Well, techincally I went last but I don't count because I rambled the whole time of how if you go too fast you can hurt yourself...so Daddy just stopped the clock and called me out. In the end everyone wins, the girls ended up getting three moderate sized scoops! Dev didn't want any but had fun running around with them - he put himself to bed that night. Madi loved watching them do the race.

Um, why can't he take a nice picture with me?! :)

"I'm 2!"

Our monkey girl.

My big girls.

When we got home, we ate strawberry shortcake or in Madi's case cake and icecream. Daddy cut out a 2 out of the cake and did the 2 candles sticking in icecream. I thought it was so cute!!

Enjoying her birthday treat.

Happy Birthday, Diva Madi!

Sheree, you need to feed your hubby an extra scoop of ice cream...he's too skinny.

@chrissy: thank you! :)
@nikki: i know, i know but the boy eats a ton (more icecream than any person should really consume). he's been that way since HS he just burns more than he can eat. and he eats a TON! but he'll appreciate your ok-ing the extra scoops! :)
