My Son Plays Soccer!!!

You're all thinking...duh, he plays soccer that's all your family does is play soccer (minus me and Madi, gave that up and Madi is too young). You have to understand, last season. This was our son...tears every game. It took me and Grandparents to get him to stop crying let alone participate on the field. He was so excited when we signed him up but it wasn't what he expected I suppose so every game. He cried. Then sat on the side lines and ate snacks. We tried everything to get him out there positive reinforcement is what I like to call it.

Hotwheels. Icecream. He wasn't into Legos at the time so we didn't use that. Grandpa Eddie was there every game and he tried to help us talk to Dev especially when he could see defeat and frustration in our eyes.

The crying face...Fall 2008.

Spring of 2009...he's on the field. I was just elated for that step. Wa Hoo!

The team decided to name the team Storm Troopers. It was a toss between that Blue Tigers or the Blue Sox. Coach Daddy asked one team member what name she wanted because she hadn't voted and she shrugged her shoulders and said "Storm Troopers". Dev was beaming after that, I don't think he doubted he'd get his way.

Kicking. I don't think I saw this either last fall.

Participation on the side lines, rooting for fellow team mates this made a Momma proud.

He did so well and we are so proud of him for the little-big steps he made. Little in theory. Big for us and our expectations (for which, we had none). We just went with whatever he was going to throw at us. So, when he scored a goal with an excellent pass from Antony we (yes, that includes all family members on the sidelines-Grandpa Eddie, Aunty Andria, Coach Dao and Coach Daddy + fellow G6ers) were jumping and yelling!! It was a great morning...early but great. I'm glad I went to witness it.

Who are these pretty ladies? Yes, that is a shiner my little one has. Her sister, Nana and her were playing lightsabers and the spring up lightsaber caught her eye. She cried for a milli-second and then wanted to continue to play...the girl is fearless so we guess it's a good thing she bounces back easily. Sheesh.
