Carnival Time!

Carnival Time at our elementary school. It's not really a fundraiser - I think they barely break even but it's a good time for all of the families and teachers to hang out and eat a bunch of junk. Oh, we had our fill of junk for at least the next year OR so.

1. Bouncy House
This is a must when being at a Carnival and the only thing my little ones were pumped about the whole time. Dev and Madi love them some bouncy time (as if Gymnastics on the same day wasn't enough...). We got there right as the Carnival opened so we got it to ourselves mainly which was awesome!

Isa already bounced out on us to hang with her friends before we entered the front gates. Just another sign, she is growing up. ::sigh:: The other kids kept me plenty busy trying to coordinate where to go next together and testing my almost 2 year old's patience with waiting in lines. Shouldn't she be a pro already with 3 siblings? I guess not!

2. Pony Rides
This is the first year the school did Pony Rides but it was a hit so I'm sure it'll make a come back from now on. It was very neat to have the kids experience it.

Oh, did I mention we invited Zo to hang with us at the Carnival and have a sleepover? Zo on her pony ride. These girls were so excited and the line wasn't bad (because it was again one of the first things we did). They just chatted in line and time seemed to fly by they said!

Nana loves horses so she was in heaven up there.

3. Eating Junk and Doing a Cake Walk
What's a Carnival without some junk in your tummy and then walking it off to earn more junk?
Clearly, it's not even a carnival without it. So, a must do.

I made them do the cake walk. The P7 (Nat, Nana's best buddy's family) made a cake for the cake walk but they weren't going to be here for the Carnival and I brought them to school for them. After sitting in my fridge overnight and bringing it to school I knew that we needed to have that cake. After we ate chips and pop (we ate dinner at home) and Zo ate her hot dog I made them do the cake walk. Actually, we all did. And, we got their cake!!! I was so happy! P7, I don't know if you read this but your homemade cake was the bizomb!! So yummy, so yummy!

4. Potato Sack Races
I literally begged them to do this. Which was surprising because they were both naturals at it!

Yes, the speed demon you see hopping ahead is Zo! I still can't believe I had to beg her and Nana to do it. Once they did; they wanted to do it again. Zo was a hopping maniac! She was so great at it. It was fun to see her self discovery in her new talent.

Their 2nd time at the sack races.

We did all the games inside too. We made buttons, picked lollipops, raced horses and threw wiffle balls. How can I forget? We earned prizes or what I like to call things I will step on in a week. But right now, they are their prized possessions.

5. Extra Large Bouncy Slides
This is a job that needed Daddy qualifications. I have none so...

Daddy finally came! Relief. He was able to do the crazy Daddy stuff like climb big bouncy walls and slide down them. I am not the one who usually takes on this role. Daddy has way too much fun doing it and I wouldn't deprive him of it. :)

This wall was ginormous and when Dev attempted it on his own he was sorely defeated so it was great that Daddy could do this with him.

Oh, the joy!!

6. Sour News turned to Big Hugs

We found out that afternoon that our Pink Panther team had filled up before we signed up. We were on the Wait List for it but after some serious mulling over and debating over work schedules. Daddy decided he would coach Isa. Isa was down the whole afternoon knowing she wouldn't be on the Pink Panthers but this lifted her spirits (and night!). She was elated to know her Daddy would coach her team. Daddy is giving me a "you're a dork for taking a picture for your blog" look but I have no shame. Memories and he'll (they all will) thank me later.

7. Enjoying the Fruits of your Labor

Oh yes, at 8:30pm we clearly didn't have enough junk so what do we do? We ate Cake Walk cake because Zo and Nana (+Daddy and Mommy) needed to eat the fruits of our cake walk labor. Duh.
Thanks for walking through our 1-7 steps of how to get on a junk high, then slosh it around on all the bouncy toys, ride ponies and jump in sacks.

---------------------------------------------------

Nana and Nat on Thursday (before I picked up their yummy cakes) having their weekly play dates. Nana usually goes over to Nat's house and then the next day she comes over here. It's a good Mommy trade and living a street away makes these play dates convenient.

SO FUN! Your kids seem to have such a great time with all the activities you make sure they get to experience. I hope I'm as engaged of a mom as you are when I have multiple children. I'm always looking for new things for Emma to do ... and I always need good ideas. What are your favorite things to do with the kids? Favorite home projects? Outings? I think you should do another "favorite things" post. :)
