Number 4 Part Tres

We have started our first Letter of the Week. Dev knows all letters but we are working on Letter sounds and rhyming to prep for reading. This week it is Dynamic D. Chrissy is a Co-Op Mom who actually gave me the idea to concentrate the whole week on one letter. She was a Kindergarten Teacher turned Stay at Home Mom who works with her son who is in the Co-Op's 2's Class. She does a project with him all week pertaining to the concentration of a letter.

Dev wanted to start with the most obvious favorite letter, Dd. Every time he does a project starting with Dd then I add a sticker to his Dd. We keep it up on our wall, practice writing it, practice the sounds it makes, rhyme with Dd and have fun doing things that start with Dd.

The first letter of the week Dd. I'm working on my cutting skills but you get the picture. :)

The first thing he thought of was Diego. We'll keep you updated on our Dd adventures.

After the girls were out of school, we delivered the last of our cookies in Seattle and had dinner at Uncle Enrique and Aunty Tina's house. We surprised them by being earlier than expected due to no traffic. Aunty Tina made breakfast for dinner (our kiddies favorite) and Red Velvet cuppycakes. Yum. Topped it off with Dev's favorite cars, Hotwheels. He was excited and played with them the whole time. We stayed until about 7pm so I packed the kiddies their PJs. So, we could hit the sack when we got home.

Thank you, Uncle Enrique and Aunty Tina for celebrating Dev's birthday with us!

Jacob does a letter of the week at school too. Each week he comes home with one we hang it on the wall in his room. He loves to look at them and figure out what letters he still has to go! They also do a color of the month. Throughout the whole month they do things pertaining to that color and one day in the month they are supposed to wear that color to school and their snack is that color.

that's neat. dev learned his letters with a thomas the train computer and now can write his name. he's been into rhyming a ton lately so we're moving on to the obvious step forward in reading. doing this at home has been fun for me too and it gives madi involvement and exposure to letters.

Thanks for the shout out Sheree! We are actually on try number 2 for the letter thing. (Meaning I started it in the fall, then the holidays came and it all fell apart :)) Anyway, we already did D before, and while it helped that Dad is building a big drill at work, here are some ideas: http://2ringcircus.blogspot.com/2008/10/letters.html.
