Mother Nature is super confused. Snow, Saturday? Could this be true? What is going on? Is it Spring or what? I think it's nuts myself. Yesterday was Isa's first soccer game and it was everything a soccer game should be. It was at 4:45pm, the weather was warm, the kids were having a blast in the grass and at the park. We made a deal they can play half the game at the park and then the other half to watch Sissy's game. It's only fair on both parts. Right?
Kinda funny but not really funny because my son is a bully in this story was when 8-9 year old boys were coming up to me and saying "hey, he's trying to get us and he might hit us", are they serious? I looked at them for a second. I'm a firm believer in proper etiquette at the park but really Dev wasn't doing much but saying "I'm going to get you" without any real force (or action) behind the words. It was more to his sister, Nana, who knows he's just playing his version of tag. So, you can imagine my reaction to the 8-9 year old boys who more than likely have sisters that they torture on a daily basis...I laughed at them and said "guys, he won't get you, I promise. I'm watching." I called Husband and said "your son is a playground bully" and he wasn't surprised. I said "the boys are 8-9 years old though" and then he laughed. Because how could you not?
Isa "won" her game because in this league every one wins. I love this coach's mentality. They don't keep score anyway at this age and the great part is they coach during the game to help the girls find solutions in potential game situations. I'm very excited for this soccer season. More importantly, Isa is excited. She is so into soccer this year and is trying hard (practicing whenever she can in the backyard). I love it.
