My son is 5 years old. So...sadly that means he's growing up. And, going to Kindergarten. That's right, folks - my baby boy is heading to his first year of school.
There's no doubt he's a smarty. He loves to count. He loves to be mathematical - adding is his favorite thing. He is early reading but doesn't love it. Hopefully that comes with time.
I'm just in awe. Kindergarten. I thought he still had acid reflux and was throwing up his bottle intake...wait, he's not! I have been having the Mommy struggle. Of course, I'm excited for him because I know he is so ready. But it's another off to school. I miss them all whenever they're away. ::sigh::
Another one leaving the nest to conquer half day Kindergarten. :)
We walk in to class and my Loverkins was hanging all over my leg. He was so excited to come that I'm worried. Hoping it'll pass. He finds Pay, who has already arrived and plops next to her to paint. He gets into his painting so I'm able to wander around and mingle with parents. We know a few of them as they are parents of our daughter's friends.
Then, I see Dev at the table counting the counters. He lined them up by rainbow color and size. I walk over and he says "Mommy, there's 45 counters of cars and trucks." He gets up and reports the news to his teacher. Ms. R is super sweet and acknowledges Dev's brilliancy!
Then he starts jabbering:
Dev: "I'd like to see my locker."
Ms. R: "Well, I haven't assigned them. Would you like to pick one out? We share them so who'd you like to share with?"
Dev: ::insert happy dance here:: "Pay!!"
Ms. R: "Okay, let's go."
Ms. R usually does everything so for her to let Dev pick out a locker was very special. They grabbed Pay and picked one out. And, of course being the Dev he is. He picked the 1st locker. He did his happy dance while they inserted the white board for him and Pay to share.
Another happy dance while Pay draws on their board.
It ended at 2pm. I needed to get home for the kids to quickly change then head to the Dress Rehearsal Dinner for the Williams' Wedding at 5pm.
Or...I'm gonna get this awesome flat tire. Whatever.
Denise kicked it into high gear and helped (who are we kidding - she practically did it!) me change the tire so I could go to the dress rehearsal.
We finished at 4pm. I ran home to gather more stuff with Nana and Em while Denise had my other kids at her house and brought them back to me when I was done at the tire store to have my tire patched. We left the tire store at 5:40pm making it to the rehearsal at 6pm. Sooooooooo late. We walk up to the winery as everyone is walking out.
Awesome. Nothing left to do but go to dinner! Good thing we were hungry!

Oh! you did mention the flat tire! Ugh! What a day!
I am still in shock that Ms. R let Dev and Pay pick their own locker!
They love that white board and write in it everyday!
