This Is What I'm Workin' With

We've always believed in letting our kids express themselves. Whether or not we agreed - we let them express themselves to a certain extent...I'm curious where that extent ends with our Diva.

Every one of our children our independent thinkers. We have raised them to believe in themselves. We want them to be able to talk to us about anything and relay their feelings respectfully. The older the kids get the more activities and obviously the less time we have in a day...so we've learned the art of "compromise".

I'm kinda controlling...okay, there's no kinda about it. I like things to run in the order in which I envision them. Diva has taught me that my visions mean nothing. I just need to roll with it and let it go. If I picture a super adorable outfit that my other kids we gladly oblige themselves to - Diva will throw a fit and refuse to wear it.

Alas...I'm compromising. If she can get it on, she can wear it [always within reason].

Exhibit A See how happy she is to wear her Storm Trooper boots while clutching Trader Joe's Gum Drops?

Exhibit B Notice the Baby Legs - she is obsessed with dresses and leg warmers, have I mentioned she never matches them? She has snowman leg warmers and striped leg warmers on.

Ta-Dah!

She dressed herself and got her [ba-boots] shoes on all on her own.

No complaints on both parties.

If you see us in public and you see me grimacing at her...that's because I've just realized what she's put on. She dresses and then we go so sometimes I don't get that chance to review the outfit.

Love it! She has style.

Let her experiment. She might end up adventurous and learn to accessorize the way I never did. I still struggle ;)

P.S. I ♥ the storm trooper boots!
