Book Club

This is the first meeting I've actually been able to attend...the last two there was always something. But, I was so excited to discuss our book of the month. Denise organizes it and her sisters-in-law have joined as well as her sister [and my Aunt], Andria. Our friend, Heidi H. is going to join as well. I love a good Monday night out! Whoop, whoop! Our topic of discussion was The Help.
Yo, thanks - Amazon.com for the picture!

This book was spectacular. Truly. I laughed. I cried. I got angry. I laughed more. I definitely wasn't expecting somethings...no one was mainstream. Meaning, these characters were real. They had real flaws, fears, hopes and expectations. I was thoroughly impressed I was hooked by page 1. It was a great time with the bookclubbers.

We went to Ravenna Third Place Books. One of the gals got there early and ate dinner so we kinda plopped ourselves down in their dinner area. Looking back we probably shoulda went downstairs to Honey Bear Bakery because the service was not very good. The food was a bit over priced for it's portions.

I ate at home so I enjoyed a latte while chatting. I wouldn't have eaten at home had I known we were going to sit in the dining area. Ah well...next time [if there is one]. I did however take pictures of Denise and Andria's food. Aren't you proud of me?

Hmmm, I probably shoulda wrote down what their meals were - oops. Chicken skewers with roasted veggies? It was all delicious because their plates were clean. I heard their hummus and pitas were yummy!

Can I just say I'm a cookbook junkie? Is there a help group for it? Especially of the organic baking category. I drool mostly. On occasion I whip up a baking success as well.

At the end of the night we were all thumbing through the books.

This month we are reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson. I have been wanting to read this book so I am oober excited to dish about it when we are done.

That reminds me. I have a few of your books from Mandy. Haven't gotten to them yet though.

Those dinners look yummy! I'll have to try the place out.
