Old Man and a Baby

So, another added bonus to the last week was Husband's and Tiny's birthday. I know I don't have to remind my Gibson side of what they missed last year but it's fun to give Husband a bad time. For those who don't know, Husband and the girls went on a cruise last year to Alaska with the Gibson Family and well, they were due back on the 4th of August and I went into labor on the 2nd and gave birth on the 3rd. 1 day too early of their arrival back into town but I wasn't due until the 14th. Husband blames it on me tearing down the wallpaper in the bathroom...I did that before he left or started it before he left. Anyway, Dev and I will always know Madi a day longer than Husband/Daddy. :) Eventually, these two will be celebrating their birthdays together because it's 4 days between the two of them. Husband turned another year older this last Thursday, July 31st and Madi turned her first year on August 3rd.

Isa and Kendie made the cake from scratch and spelled D-A-D-Y. Nana was at a sleepover with Miss Kaiya.

Grandma Sus made Madi's 1st Birthday cake when we celebrated on Saturday.

Yum?

Madi's new ride.

Now, I realize in most pictures her hair is all crazy but seriously (this is no joke) I fix her hair probably 10 times a day. She takes it out and eats her hair things (I know choking hazards!) so I generally give up mid day because I have spent too much time fixing her hair. Clips, large hair bands...nothing works and I refuse to use small rubber bands because well, she'll probably get it out and try to eat it. Exploration with the mouth at this age is frustrating. We try to encourage healthy oral curiosity with healthy foods in fun shapes so she'll eat it. Like...triangle shaped avocados or star shaped pitas with some yummy hummus to dip. She hearts that but so did Dev at that age now, he won't touch hummus with a 10 foot pole. :(
