Okay...so I didn't spend my Saturday collecting produce at Frank's Quality Produce sorry, no link-he doesn't have a website! at Pike. Which if you are interested in getting good Organic Produce at a steal-go see him. It's the reason I go...the most wonderful deals on organic produce. Saturday was filled with Cookie Site Selections for Isa's troop. These Moms do NOT mess around. They have their knitting needles and sit around for all the rounds of Cookie Managers to go through so they can PICK again. Hard core is what they are. Isa also had a Chess Tournament-so that's a whole day in itself. Oh and we can't forget Little Leilani's Birthday. Diva is what her name should be. I'm off track no surprise to any one I'm sure by now so Sunday was my day to go get my goodies for Madi. I chose Zucchini Squash. Nana was with me and she was crinching at the thought of having to eat Zucchini. I don't know what happened she used to heart it now she detests it. Sad really because she still has to eat it the rest of us including Dev heart it.
I thought I would do it this morning but with Dev sick our whole schedule was thrown. Today was my day to work in Nana's class and get some homework for school...yeah, didn't happen. My son required all attention. I was his Juice Slave all day. So, when him and Madi slept I prepped her Yummies. Now, Baby Food 101 is 1 preferrably vegetable or fruit a week until you have covered the vegetable/fruit spectrum. Why? Food allergies. I usually start off with the most convient ones to do and then move to the ones I have to (cantelope) spend a lot of time to prep.
From start to finish it takes an hour to 2 hours to complete. I did enough for two weeks and then another bag for when she is ready to mix up her food variety. It took me an hour and 45 minutes to finish.

Rinse your veggies/fruits

Cut up and put the ends in your handy dandy compost bin (mine has coffee grounds in there as well) and stick in your steamer with filtered or distilled water.

Steaming takes for about 7 zucchinis is 20 minutes to make them blend-able.

I cool them down so that they're not piping HOT and then stick them in the food processor. Blend until smoooooooth-zucchini is hard to get perfectly smooth so just until you know it will go down nicely.

Breast Milk bags work wonders for this part. Stick them in these bags and they become perfect portions for the next meals.

Cool down zucchinis on counter (I have popped the lid in the back for air) and then they ready for enjoying.
I feed her Rice Cereal in the morning and then half of veggie/fruit with her cereal in the afternoon and evening. The Rice Cereal has lots of Iron nutrients that my kids in particular need. So, happy blending!!!!
